The Architecture

EYEDB is based on a client/server architecture as shown in Figure 1.

The EYEDB server is composed of:

• the server protocol layer based on Remote Procedure Call (RPC),
• the object model implementation,
• the OQL engine,
• the storage manager subsystem.

A client is composed of:

• the user application code,
• the C++ (resp. Java) API implementing the C++ (resp. Java) binding,
• the client protocol layer based on RPC.
